From Pre-K through 6th grade, our academic program is built around rigorous, standards-aligned instruction, strong relationships, and our commitment to Love, Equity, and Innovation. We provide scholars with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to lead, learn, and rise to meet every opportunity.

Our approach moves scholars from direct instruction to deeper learning, ensuring they build strong academic foundations while developing the independence, critical thinking, and perseverance necessary for long-term success.
 

Pre-Kindergarten: Building the Foundation

Our youngest scholars begin their Promesa journey in classrooms designed to nurture curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning.

Promesa Pre-K classrooms utilize CLI Engage, developed by the Children’s Learning Institute at UTHealth Houston in partnership with the Texas Education Agency. Instruction is grounded in the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines and supports development in:

• Early literacy and language

• Mathematics

• Social-emotional development

• Communication

• School readiness

Research-based instruction and ongoing progress monitoring allow our teachers to understand each child’s strengths and provide the support they need to continue growing.
 

Kindergarten–5th Grade: Mastering the TEKS

In Kindergarten through 5th grade, Promesa Academy implements Bluebonnet Learning for Reading Language Arts and Mathematics.

Bluebonnet Learning is aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and provides scholars with rigorous, grade-level instruction designed to build deep understanding, not simply prepare students for a test.

Bluebonnet Mathematics is built on the research-based Eureka Math framework, helping scholars develop strong number sense, conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and mathematical fluency.

Bluebonnet Reading Language Arts develops strong readers, writers, speakers, and thinkers through explicit literacy instruction, rich texts, structured lessons, and supports designed to ensure all learners can access grade-level content.

At Promesa, STAAR success matters, but it is not our finish line. Our goal is true grade-level mastery that prepares scholars to succeed in middle school, high school, college, career, and life.
 

6th Grade: Preparing Scholars for the Next Level

Our 6th grade program bridges the transition from elementary school into middle school by increasing academic independence while maintaining the strong relationships and personalized support that define the Promesa experience.

Sixth grade scholars receive:

• Mathematics: Bluebonnet Learning

• Reading Language Arts: Savvas

• Science: Savvas

• Social Studies: Savvas

Through rigorous instruction, meaningful practice, and consistent feedback, scholars strengthen the academic habits and skills they will need as expectations increase throughout middle school and beyond.
 

Learning Beyond the Core

We believe an excellent education develops the whole child.

In addition to their core academic classes, Promesa scholars have opportunities to discover new interests, develop talents, and express themselves through electives such as:

Physical Education • Art • Spanish

These experiences help scholars build creativity, confidence, wellness, communication skills, and connections to the world around them.
